Refreshed, Renewed, and Ready for 2019

Updated: Feb 24, 2019

Are you ready for a productive 2019? Over at Shoot Something Photos, I am gearing up for an AMAZING 2019. Come check out what's going on and share what you're looking forward to.
What's new on the blog for 2019

Hey guys! Welcome back to Shoot Something Photos. I'm sorry I've been distant, but it has been a crazy ride these last two months. It's now 2019. February, of all months! And I'm just now getting back to working on the blog. It's been kind of a crazy couple of months.

So what happened over here? Well, I moved houses, which doesn't sound too insane, but to me it's crazy! I had been working in a small basement apartment, which meant setting up lights and areas in order to do my photos, not having a desk or any real work space other than the couch, and it has been pretty difficult. But at the beginning of January I moved into a new house and this one actually is above-ground. YAY!! It has Windows! It has space! And I am so pumped to start photographing in it. All of the natural light is seriously giving me the feels.

Such a difference! Going from a basement apartment to one with REAL windows!? Come check out what else is new over at Shoot Something Photos.
What a difference a new apartment makes

But, with this move came a lot of stress. We couldn't find a place to move into before we had to give notice and we were looking and looking and looking and hadn't found anything and then the stress gave me bad headaches…. I just was not doing well. So I had to take a break from working on the blog. I just could not focus on one more thing. My full-time job also got very busy so I wasn't getting a break at home and I wasn't getting a break at work so something needed to give and it was the blog. But I haven't forgotten about you guys!

Another crazy thing that I was doing last month was planning my best friend's baby shower. It went off without a hitch and it was honestly amazing, but it was a little stressful as well. My friend was having some unfortunate complications with her pregnancy. She's all healthy now but up until a couple of days before the shower she was in and out of the hospital and we weren't even sure if we were going to have a baby shower. Now that isn't all that unfortunate, I mean we could have just moved the date, but the venue was already booked and I had boxes and boxes of decorations and games and food items and drinks sitting amongst my boxes and boxes and boxes of furniture and things that I had packed at my house, haha. So that also added to a little bit of the stress and had me take a step back.

But now I'm ready! I have a desk now (amazing I know) and I'm so excited and my palms are just itching to grab my camera and start photographing to see what I now can do with actual natural light haha. For example, check out the photo below. I was working at my desk, and without editing it, got this beautiful bright white photo.

Taking bright white photos is easy now with those big windows.

So what can you expect coming up from Shoot Something Photos? Well I have a bunch of prints that I created for a craft show that my sister was in back in November that need to get added to The Print Shop and my Etsy store. You can actually read about the craft show here on my sisters blog One Crafty Heart. These prints include great nursery printables, Christmas and quote decor. When these get added I plan on doing a blog post on creating these prints, and especially the gold foiling that I did on a few of them that turned out really well.

What's coming up in the photo world for me?  This month I am trying to schedule maternity photos for my best friend. The weather here in Southwestern Ontario has not been agreeing with us. For the last few weeks it has been utterly and bitterly cold, as well as record snowfalls. Then there was a period of days that were 10 degrees above freezing and raining and the snow was gone. So we are patiently waiting for some more snow to do a few outdoor photos, but if that doesn’t work we will have to figure something else out.

So as you can tell I am super pumped for 2019. What are you excited for this year? Leave a comment below and let me know what's going on with your 2019 and how pumped you are to get started today.

As always, until next time,

Emily Rose
